unheimlich

A study abroad project lead by Professor Simon Johnston. The publication/film is part of a curated exhibition held at the HMCT. Spending 12 weeks in Berlin, Germany. This project is titled "unheimlich" which is German for "unfamilar; uncanny". The publication is explores the idea and theory of "liminality". As I was exploring the unknown in Berlin, iI found myself constantly going through thresholds and doorways. Entering and exiting places that felt familiar yet I have never been there before.
Learning Outcomes:
I learned to embrace the unknown and to grow an idea from nothing into something. I also gained the confidence to create from scratch and be minimalist in my approach. I gained knowledge about classical typefaces that we were researching, one of them being Sabon, which I fully embraced and used in my final outcome. I challenged myself to only use one typeface and fully explore it.
