Softness Has No Place explores how South Korea’s 18-month mandatory military service shapes masculinity and gender roles in a society deeply rooted in Confucian ideals. By tracing the legacy of the Korean War and its impact on women, children, and culture, the book examines what it means to navigate gender in modern Korea. How does this experience reflect and challenge the ongoing fight for gender equality?

I designed a typeface that embodies the essence of glitchness and fractured reality, reflecting the themes of military identity explored in my book. This typographic system sets the tone for the publication, serving as a visual extension of its message and narrative.
