Lost LA Rebranding

Lost LA is a historical docuseries we were provided as one of two options for our rebranding project. I wanted to simplify the visual identity and give it a fresher, sharper look. We started on logos before the midterm and carried that into the final identity system for the posters, booklet (based on one episode), and social media mockup. I focused on Southern California beach culture to show how, even with vintage, black and white photos, this style could feel contemporary.
Learning Outcomes:
Before this project, I had never made a logo, designed a full editorial piece, directed a social media campaign, or composed a full triptych of posters. I learned a general process for each of these things. Also, I learned about an "engawa", a term that seems specific to our teacher but something many great books do. We learned how to tell a story visually and prepare the viewer for the journey we plan to take them on.
