'The Youthquake' is an editorial project exploring subcultures in modern Britain, highlighting the value of DIY and cultural subversion. I curated text and images, designed interior spreads and the cover, aiming to captivate and educate readers about punk, rude boys, mods, teddy boys, etc. The project underscores the importance of funding such movements and fosters appreciation for these subcultures.
Learning Outcomes:
This project allowed me to explore the new territory of historical subcultures. I experimented with making vintage photography feel contemporary, balancing educational text and vivid imagery. A key challenge was maintaining freshness while being informative. In future projects, I might focus on modern subcultures, drawing connections to past influences to maintain present-day relevance.
