Design education is only taught to those that actively seek it, yet we have been experiencing it every minute of everyday our whole lives, even at a young age we are exposed to design without anybody telling us what it is. It wasn’t until I left for higher education that I stumbled into graphic design. If design education is so important, why are we not taught about it at a younger age? I believe graphic design is incomplete and should begin in grade school.

My thesis titled Why Wasn’t I Told This Sooner?, expands on the idea of the importance of design education being taught to children in grade school. Through the lens of games, children are introduced to design methodologies to help them understand new forms of problem solving, personal expression, and critical thinking.
