This project was made by going to the Huntington Botanical Gardens before creating concepts and sketches. I documented all of the things I noticed: soil, leaves, seeds, rocks, signage, labels, etc. After my visit, I considered what I liked to research further. By photographing some of the gardens, I gained interest in the flowers that were displayed. With this topic, I created an infographic poster about orchids researched, and designed a 24 x 36-inch poster.
Learning Outcomes:
Some questions that occurred included: Did we need a map at all? Do we need the scientific names of the orchids? I had issues with the hierarchy of the poster. I had to figure out a way so that the map and the secondary information about the different orchids weren't competing. I needed to make sure the images were visible but it was hard with all the body text in the first iteration.
