The Cool Wave

Created for a conceptual exhibition at LACMA, this brochure introduces the history of Hip Culture through the decades. The cover is a combination of mini "John Baldessari(s)” taken from his video piece, “I am Making Art” and colors inspired by psychedelic art. It carries the meaning of Baldessari’s satire of performance art and the modernist notion that anything can be considered art.
Learning Outcomes:
This project stretched my understanding of how hip culture impacted the people of the era, and how crucial art is. It also made me question what gives art value and power, and how events shaped art for each decade.
