BATIK: The Multicultural Textile

Batik is a part of Indonesian everyday life. The textile may represent identity, self-expression, and even artistry. The book introduces Batik, its history, its diversity, and its philosophies. It also covers Indonesia’s complex history throughout the Dutch colonization period. Nevertheless, the nation emerged with independence in 1945 and overcame exploitation and slavery. The widespread of Batik, however, serves as evidence of Indonesian freedom and the cultural heritage of humanity.
Learning Outcomes:
I learned a lot of techniques specific to book production especially towards the treatment of type and images. I also learned how to sequence my book's narrative through Batik's introduction, trade and history, patterns and philosophy, the role of Dutch colonizers, and Indonesian Independence.
