Great Writer Series: Osamu Dazai

Great Writer Series is a 8 page (plus cover) text heavy publication based on the research of a writer’s life and work created in Type 3: Context. The writer I chose to do my project on was Osamu Dazai, one of the most foremost fiction writers of 20th Century Japan. Dazai is known for his tragic and turmoil life, mostly known for his books that did not shy away from mental health.
Learning Outcomes:
Since this project was to create a text heavy publication based on an author that I chose, it was important for me to think about how I can visually express the tone and mood of my author through typography and visual means. Osamu Dazai was known for his bleak and depressing tone, not only expressed through his writing but his tragic life as well. I learned to think about how I can visually communicate tone and mood through my design.
