Independent Lens

Independent Lens was a Poster/Brochure Project using two inks only that was created in Type 3: Context. The poster was to be 33 x 22 but also capable of being presented as a brochure that was 11 x 5.5 inches. We were tasked to create a poster with 10 films, including a brief description, date, and title. Progress and details are at the bottom.
Learning Outcomes:
To create a poster that was capable of being cut up into a brochure was a challenge to me at first. I had to think of ways I could create a poster that would not only look visually complete as a poster but as a brochure as well. I had to think critically about how each page would look on the brochure, so that it did not feel awkward in terms of visual completeness. I learned more about visual hierarchy and reactive typography through this project.

As the poster was only to be created with 2 color jobs only, we started off with creating various photo versions. Shown are a few image treatments I did, with different color combinations and image treatments (duotone, halftone, bitmap, etc.,)

Here are some poster variations that did not make it to the final round of chosen poster variations. In each poster, I experimented with typography and the visual hierarchy.
