Flowers / in Heart

Flowers in Heart traces the quiet legacy of Victorian women who painted the world’s flora while hidden in history. As empires expanded, they captured nature’s fleeting beauty—turning blossoms into records, emotion into science. Once tucked in the margins, their work now blooms again, honoring the tenderness and silent strength behind each brushstroke.
Learning Outcomes:
Through Flowers in Heart, I’ve come to see botanical art not just as a scientific record but as quiet resistance—an act of care in a time of conquest. Tracing the hands of forgotten women, I’ve learned how emotion, precision, and beauty can coexist in the margins of history. This project deepened my belief that design can uncover hidden stories, give voice to the unseen, and offer gentleness as a form of power.
