Blasted Layoff is a satirical FPS capstone project where players, as a recently fired employee, fight back using absurd weaponized office supplies. Set in a chaotic dystopian office, the game blends explosive combat with dark comedy to explore burnout and corporate absurdity. Developed by four designers and collaborating artists, it turns everyday office tropes into fast-paced, interactive mayhem.
Learning Outcomes:
Through Blasted Layoff, I honed my systems and gameplay design skills while working with a team of four designers and artists. I implemented core combat loop implementation, created responsive enemy encounters, and built movement-based mechanics rewarding aggressive play. Using Unreal Engine 5, I refined my Blueprint and feedback systems, while learning to align gameplay vision with art direction and collaborate effectively under tight deadlines.
