Original Art using

The goal of this project was to create 12 pieces of original art that all relate to a theme and make use of one composition and one gestalt principle. I chose to use the theme of creatures of Irish mythology to create my pieces as well as a color scheme consisting of values of black white and green.
Learning Outcomes:
From this project I learned how to apply Gestalt principles while creating a piece as well as creating or aligning an image along a composition.
Image
Profile of the Banshee, done in a figure on ground composition using emergence to create the image of the face from a field of lines.
Image
An interpretation of the story of Balor of the evil eye, done in a figure-ground ambiguity using multistability to create a fluidity between subject and background.
Image
A group of fomorians, done in a random composition using the law of proximity to create groups and variations of the diverse fomorians.
Image
Soldiers of the Fianna standing at the ready, done in an order composition using the law of similarity to create two groups.
Image
A Celtic symbol for change and cycle known as a triple spiral done using an asymmetrical composition using reification to create the illusion of the triple spiral shape.
Image
An interpretation of the Irish vampire known as the Abhartach, done in a symmetrical composition using the law of symmetry to create one figure using two symmetrical shapes.
Image
The story of the headless horseman known as the Dullahan, done in a diagonal composition using the law of continuity to create the illusion of a continuous line in the whip and background.
Image
The Glas Gaibhnenn green cow of bounty, done in a horizontal composition using invariance to manipulate a familiar shape into many variations.
Image
A rendition of two Merrow (Irish Mermaids) swimming among some fish, done in a vertical composition using the law of common fate to separate creatures moving upstream and creatures moving downstream.
Image
The house of a fairy, strung from a tree, done in an emphasis composition using color to create focus on the house and emergence to develop a foreground amongst a field of grass.
Image
Depiction of The Ellén Trechend, done in a motion composition using the law of closure to create the image of the beast, using surrounding shapes.
Image
A rendition of the great warrior Cu Chulainn, done in a triangular composition using the law of closure to force the eye to connect the silhouette of the warrior on a mountain using shapes.
