This book cover design, for the myth "Romulus and Remus," features an illustration of the twins and the wolf who raised them, paired with a custom piece of typography. Though the image is simple, it is powerful and representational of the Roman origin myth: Romulus sleeps peacefully as Remus slyly looks over at him, already suspicious of his brother. The wolf who protects them stares directly at the viewer.
Learning Outcomes:
This project challenged me as both a designer and illustrator, mainly because it required me to think more critically about how I might represent this well-known story in a new modern way. Furthermore, as a designer who likes to illustrate, this project also helped me to better understand how type and image work together in a composition.
