FA 23: To Be a Designer

As part of thesis, I have developed my own definition of design and a poster that reflects this ideology. My poster uses the phrase "to be a designer is to defy all boundaries," which reflects the notion that designers are able to expand their work beyond the traditional definition that they are assigned. The poster features an abstracted iris, which symbolizes both the idea of "the experience" and interaction that people have with all types of design, and the expansiveness of the universe.
Learning Outcomes:
This project has challenged me to think about my design practice, and what it means to me to be a graphic designer. Because I view graphic design as such a diverse expansive practice, it has been difficult to pinpoint my own definition. I have learned how to represent my thoughts and ideas in more abstracted/less-direct methods and I feel I will be a stronger designer now that I have specified my own definition of design.
