Kabel Type Specimen Poster

This project, in progress, involves creating a poster that relates to a chosen typeface. My poster is centered around Kabel. It focuses on the movie Metropolis, as this film directly relates to the typeface's German (expressionist) roots. The type on my poster is set in German, and features a large "1927," the year that the Metropolis and Kabel was released. The type is set on a gold background, which features a stylized, pared down depiction of the robot from the film.
Learning Outcomes:
This project was my introduction to type setting, and there were many physical processes that I had to learn. Most importantly, I was reminded to not become too attached to one idea. Initially, I wanted to use a full body image of the robot. I found that this composition and my complex imagery did not lend itself well to this medium. When I shifted my focus, I produced an image that I was much happier with and I am excited to wrap up this project later this week!
