The Weekend Skateshop Branding
The Weekend Skate shop is a family oriented and community based skate shop. The branding is inspired by the history of skateboarding, specifically in California, and all branding materials follow a 1960/70s aesthetic. The logo and color palette is meant to reflect the laidback, fun atmosphere of early skating and of the essence of a relaxing weekend vibe.
Learning Outcomes:
This project relied heavily on research, as my whole company acted as a homage to the origins of skateboarding and of skate culture. Throughout this project, I learned how to creatively reference different histories through visuals and colors. Furthermore, capturing the ideology of a subculture like skateboarding in a unique and fresh way was an interesting challenge. I feel as if skate-based companies follow a similar, more grungy aesthetic, and I wanted to break from this tradition.
