Jabu | Modular Font

The goal was to design a basic uppercase and lowercase alphabet (A–Z, a–z) using modules built from the primary forms (●, ▲, ■) and combinations thereof. Working with this modular method helps understanding the architecture of letterforms and the modularity, coherence, and harmony inherent to type design.

Typography fundamentals; problem-solving; type design principles; grid and structure; modularity; geometry and symmetry; embracing the iterative design process, creating multiple versions of their typeface, gathering feedback, and making refinements; choices of legibility and readability; experimental design.
