Sulamericana
Inspired by the curves of Oscar Niemeyer, the mountains of Minas Gerais, the heat of Rio de Janeiro, Sulamericana is a love letter to South America and, above all, to Brazil. This project began inspired by the bars throughout Rio de Janeiro. In order to encapsulate the city’s energy, the rhythm of the restaurants and the curves of the topography, I started the design of this modern, friendly and welcoming font.
Learning Outcomes:
I think the biggest outcome for me during this project, that started during Font Design 1 and I carried over to Font Design 2, is how to translate inspiration and research to my projects. Also showed me the importance of stepping away before making changes, how to be analytical of what is working and what is not, and how to better incorporate critiques into my process.
