Nue

Nue is a high-back lounge chair designed for Bernhardt Design that reimagines the idea of personal sanctuary within shared spaces. Its dramatically curved shell rises to embrace the occupant, offering acoustic privacy and a sense of enclosure without sacrificing openness or approachability.

The form is rooted in contrast — soft against structured, private against public. A split-tone upholstery treatment distinguishes the chair's interior and exterior faces, while a floating lumbar cushion adds ergonomic warmth to an otherwise architectural silhouette. The rounded, legless base grounds the piece with calm solidity, giving Nue a presence that feels both sculptural and deeply human.
Developed through iterative digital modeling and hands-on prototype construction, Nue bridges the expressive and the functional — a chair that holds you as much as it shelters you.
