Nostalgia (2025)

A triptych that explores the feeling of nostalgia through the female perspective. Referring to the sudden sense of perception and the overwhelming feelings of insecurity, comparison, and self-perception which are all consuming. Searching for comfort in childhood to avoid these difficult feelings and anxieties.

Process:

Using plywood and the bandsaw to cut unique shapes for the panels of each figure followed by sanding and priming. Continuing my preferred method of paintings with acrylic to leave the natural wood grain peeking through.

Learning Outcomes:

Discovering a desire to create more pieces that use unique shapes for the wood panel rather than a traditional rectangle or square.
