Illustration

For each project, we were tasked with creating an illustration based on a specific style guide.

The first project was focused on creating a travel poster for the Honolulu Zoo in the graphic style of Charley Harper.

The second project was based in the style of both Pascal Campion and Cartoon Network's Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. With this combination of styles, we were tasked to paint a post-rain evening street scene in Paris, with the focal point placed on a specific storefront, and including at least three characters.

The outline for the third illustration was to create an afternoon desert scene in the style of Eyvind Earle, with the focal point being on a group of desert plants.

Process:

For all three projects, I began with a number of thumbnail and layout sketches. Then, after bringing a few to the value composition/color key stage, I cleaned up the sketch to create my final layout, and brought the illustration to full-color finish.

Learning Outcomes:

These projects were a fun challenge in adapting my work to other styles, as well as following very specific guidelines on what should be included within the final deliverable.
