Lolita: A Study in Desire and Censorship

This project was to design a captivating poster for the re-release and restoration of the classic horror film Suspiria (1977). I aimed to create a piece that captures the film's haunting and surreal atmosphere, while also effectively promoting the event. The poster needed to appeal to both existing fans of the film and new audiences, conveying a sense of the film's historical significance and the importance of its restoration.
Learning Outcomes:
The poster combined traditional and digital techniques. I started by using collage, cutting and arranging images from magazines to capture the film's eerie tone and evoke nostalgia from its original era. Alongside this handmade collage, I used hand lettering to match the film's style. Digital typography was then added for event details, ensuring they complemented the collage without overwhelming it.
