The Human Behind | Book and Museum Exhibit Design

The Human Behind is a hypothetical exhibition that examines the unique and extensive quality of process. I curated the content of the exhibition and created a book revolving around the topic and artists. I have always loved learning about artists’ processes and I enjoyed thinking about process in regards to the person creating it and not necessarily the medium. This project allowed me to tell the story of creatives in a long format.

The exhibition features work from artists, writers, and even directors to highlight the importance of process in everything we do. The book features essays on process and a section dedicated to each artist and their unique process.

In each artist’s introduction page I utilize overlapping imagery of both finished pieces and process to reference and contrast the in between moments of the creative process versus the final outcome.

I visually told the story of each artist with their accompanying section. I curated the content to shine light on their unique process through personal quotes, sketches and images of their process.

Before entering the exhibit, the entry wall features work from all the artist’s. The scale allows the viewer to be fully immersed in the process of these artists.

The entrance of the exhibit teases the collage of typography which visualizes the mind of a creative, filled with ideas that come together into a final piece.

The design of the exhibit would mimic the layout of the book, with each artist’s work displayed with quotes and information about their unique process.

The type motif is used in poster promotion of the exhibit and tickets, as well as in the back of the book.
