The Purple People Eater

The Purple People Eater is a timeline poster that examines the Billboard Hot 100 songs for the week of my birthday, June 22nd from 1941-2022. After compiling my data, I created a playlist of all the songs and listened to them. The Purple People Eater stuck out to me, because of the many references to the song/character through time. The poster includes the character hidden throughout and encourages you to see how many you can find! It also includes information on what a novelty song is!
Learning Outcomes:
I learned how to display a lot of information on one poster without it being overwhelming or confusing to the viewer. A lot of the times, when dealing with a lot of information we have the format of a book or booklet, in which the viewer can flip the page. But with a poster, you only have one space available and it is up to the designer to determine how the information is placed for the most clarity and to enhance the story being told.
