AFFALÉ
Without trying to reinvent it, Affalé questions the way we seat by redefining the constraint that the chair imposes on its user. The shell is an asymmetrical and fluid invitation to sit, suspended over the ground through a minimalist steel base.
Process:
The goal was to design a plastic chair, exploring molding by designing with its benefits and around its constraints. After designing Affalé, I used CNC machining to create the mold, allowing me to vacuum-form styrene over it and produce the fluid shells that serve as the seat.
Learning Outcomes:
Through Affalé, I expanded my knowledge of manufacturing, diving into plastics and large-scale molding. I learned to work through challenges and adapt to large-scale construction.
