AIMÉ

Aimé is a credenza designed for and around books, build around the ideas of transparency and separation from the wall. Through its horizontal wooden planks contrasting with thin vertical aluminium panels, Aimé introduces a sense of dynamism into a geometric and static structure.

Process:

Detaching books from the walls was the starting point. Often confined to boxes, shelves, or the edges of our living spaces, they become mere background. Aimé was imagined as a multidirectional piece built around them. The process evolved through exploration and creative approaches to rethink how books are stored and showcased in our homes. I then learned welding and woodworking to build a full-scale prototype, demonstrating both the concept and the design’s feasibility.

Learning Outcomes:

I learned a lot about building at that scale, as well as welding and working with metal in general.
