Late Night Heist

This project is a illustrated narrative based project that is focused on character development as well choosing the path of story whether it is from point A to B or A to A. This was a study to determine how stories could plotted. I followed a traditional A-to-B story structure but aimed to subvert expectations with the ending. Farmer Brown, lonely on his quiet farm, hunted for crop thieves one night and discovered raccoons gambling with the stolen produce and so...he joined them!

Process:

A challenge that came with the structure was mostly the creation of the world, characters, and exercising limitations within 3 frames for an entire story. I was challenged to allow events that are not visually portrayed to be implied and to be read well throughout each illustration.

Learning Outcomes:

I created a written script and a few character designs as my starting point. From there, multiple variations of stroyboards and 3D layouts were drafted to see what angles, lighting, and environment could encapsulate all three aspects of world-building, character development, and the implied narrative cues.
