Soft Rescue Robot

This project explores how soft robotics can assist in post-disaster search and rescue operations. With a compact 8 cm modular body, each robot navigates narrow gaps using alternating or peristaltic crawling modes. Deployed from a carrier vehicle with retractable tracks, these robots are lightweight, flexible, and capable of adapting to unstable terrain. The system demonstrates how bio-inspired design and distributed deployment strategies can enhance future emergency response scenarios.

Learning Outcomes:

I have learn to design and prototype integrated physical-digital interaction systems by simultaneously creating devices and their interfaces, collaborating across disciplines to turn emerging technologies—like soft robotics—into meaningful, functional user experiences.
