This project is a rapid prototyping project inspired by the geometry of the Google logo. Each object is designed so that, when viewed from above, its form aligns to reveal one of the logo’s iconic shapes, while functioning in everyday life as a pencil holder, speaker, pencil sharpener, or humidifier. By translating a familiar digital identity into physical desktop tools, the project explores how brand language, form, and function can harmonize to create playful and meaningful objects for the workspace.
I began by deconstructing the Google logo into geometric volumes and studying how each shape could be reinterpreted as a functional object. After sketching initial concepts, I modeled the accessories in SolidWorks at real scale, testing how top-down silhouettes could preserve the logo’s identity while remaining ergonomic and usable. Through rapid prototyping and multiple 3D-printed iterations, I refined curvature, wall thickness, assembly details, and proportions to ensure both visual clarity and functional performance. The final set demonstrates how a brand’s core forms can guide the design of expressive physical products.
Through this project, I learned how to translate digital brand elements into functional 3D objects while balancing aesthetics with usability. I strengthened my skills in SolidWorks modeling, real-scale form development, and iterative 3D printing to refine proportions and mechanical details. I also gained experience designing objects whose meaning changes depending on the user’s perspective—revealing how form, function, and brand identity can intersect in physical product design.
