About

Hi, I’m Galina Zhu — a creative technologist and interaction designer driven by curiosity, playfulness, and the joy of bringing imagination to life. I grew up fascinated by how things work — taking apart toys, experimenting with simple mechanics, and later diving into robotics, coding, and human-technology interaction. That early curiosity evolved into a passion: designing experiences where the physical and digital worlds meet.
My work focuses on using technology to create immersive storytelling, playful interactions, and environments that encourage people to explore who they are and how they connect with others. I believe fun isn’t superficial — it’s a powerful tool. Through interactive installations, alternative controllers, and narrative-driven digital spaces, I design opportunities for people to feel something new: delight, comfort, empowerment, or even a momentary escape from reality.
Concepts in my projects are often inspired by books, movies, and the deep emotional universes we carry inside ourselves. I love asking questions like: How do people engage with stories physically? How can interaction reshape identity? What happens when someone steps into a world built from imagination? My goal is to craft experiences that turn those questions into tangible, memorable moments.
I approach making as an iterative and collaborative adventure—building prototypes, testing ideas through play, and refining the interaction until it feels intuitive and magical. Whether designing a whimsical machine or a multi-sensory space, I ground every choice in a desire to make technology feel more human, accessible, and alive.
I want my work to invite people to pause, play, and rediscover wonder — to step into worlds where they can write their own story.
