About
Michael Montemayor, born 1993, is a multidisciplinary artist of that currently lives in and works out of Los Angeles, CA and Seattle, WA. He holds both a BA and MA degree in Art with a focus in Illustration from California State University Northridge and is close to receiving his MFA from Art Center College of Design.
His current body of work is a hauntological exploration of the intimate interconnectivity between humans and machines, revealing the emotional, philosophical, and subconscious terrain embedded in this relationship. Taking inspiration from coded imagery, personal ephemera 80s–90s pop culture, underground motoring culture, mediation, and theoretical sciences such as quantum mechanics, he explores identity, intersectionality, and transcendence through the lens of a mindset known as Mechanical Sympathy.
