About

Our Expanding Relationship

You are a part of our history.

For more than 90 years, ArtCenter has prepared artists and designers to make a positive impact both in their chosen fields and the world at large. In 1930, The Art Center School, as it was then called, opened under the direction of its co-founder, advertising man Edward A.“Tink” Adams. In the 1950s, the College played a seminal role in the founding of the first advanced-concept design studio. In the 1980s, we were the first design school to install computer labs, spearheading the revolution in digital design. And in 2003, we became the first design school to receive Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status from both the United Nations Department of Public Information and the United Nations Population Fund.

You are also part of our future.

Looking forward, the College is fulfilling its educational mission through the adaptive re-use of buildings at South Campus, an expansion of its Berlin-based study-away opportunities, and the development of additional student amenities. But no matter how the College evolves, you will have helped us get there. Which is why we want you to be a part of our collective future. From serving as a mentor to students, conducting portfolio reviews and keeping us in the loop of your latest accomplishments, to providing us with corporate connections, securing sponsorships and funding student scholarships, there are countless ways to stay involved. And you’re in good company: Approximately 24,000 ArtCenter alumni are spread throughout the world. As a member of the ArtCenter community, you are now part of a vibrant global network that will follow you no matter where life takes you.
