Vanessa Yu

Hi, I'm Vanessa Yu, a visual storyteller that create narratives through color, materials and illustration to solve problems.

Born and raised in Hong Kong. I grew up quite a problematic child, questioning literally everything, from cultural traditions, formal education to gender expectations. From my original culture it was seen as being rebellious, but as a designer, my curiosity and creativity is intentional.

I love making connections out of our differences, finding intersections where innovation and opportunity live. Working with a diversity of cultures and disciplines, I take time to deeply understand people’s choices in order to translate ideas and encourage a deeper conversation. Blending Illustration and Product allows me to push the boundaries of CMF design, infusing color, materials and emotion into stories with intention.
