Founded in 2005, the Performa Biennial is recognized as the first biennial to highlight the significance of performance in art history. To honor its dedication to the performing arts and its connection to New York City, the rebrand centers around the idea of movement—movement of artists on stage, movement of stage elements, and movement of the audience and visitors throughout the city.
