About

Never lose your shadow.

Jean-Paul Miller is an interdisciplinary artist who operates out of Los Angeles, California. Born in 1989 to an American Theoretical Physicist and native Peruvian polymath, it identifies as mixed race and transgender. Experiencing the loss of its father at age ten, it began an artistic interrogation of mortality, spirituality, transcendentalism, and the void therein. Formally trained and experienced in electrical engineering, performance, sound, video, painting, photography, and emergent media, its works traverse highly variable form.

Miller believes there are moments that possess eternity; moments where transcendence is attained through an uncompromised engagement of the present. A pervasive rationalized subordinance to immovable social orders and subsequent mass repression inhibits perception of these fleeting moments; and by subverting material and temporal structures with subconscious, probabilistic, and nonlinear systems, Miller distills absolute experience.

Jean-Paul Miller performed and exhibited in many local Los Angeles galleries and institutions such as Pehrspace, Superchief, Pasadena City College, Art Center College of Design, as well as many multimedia publications both digital and physical. It is currently pursuing a BFA in Fine Art with a scholarship at the Art Center College of Design and is due to graduate in 2025.
